Gymnast B-reaks Both Legs And Suffers Double Knee Dislocation In Horror Landing [Video]

For anyone that has ever br-oken a leg, they know just how painful it can be, and how cumbersome it can be to go through the healing process. An Auburn University gymnast in the US has had the misfortune of b-reaking both her legs during an attempt at an acrobatic move. There is a video circulating that shows the in-jury, but we have to warn you, it’s pretty graphic and definitely not a recommended watch if you’re squeamish in any way. If you do intend to watch it just for the in-jury part, just know that you’ll have to skip to around the 39-minute mark.

Samantha Cerio of Auburn University was participating in the Baton Rouge Regional, an event on the National Collegiate Athletic Association calendar when she suffered her hor-rible in-juries.

She was attempted her first go at a handspring double front flip with a blind landing – sounds just as complicated as it looks – when she came up short and it caused her legs to bend backward at an unnatural angle.

The exact in-juries haven’t been released by Auburn University, but Nola.com reported that she b-roke both her legs as well as dislocated her knees. Sounds utterly painful, and the footage was certainly tough to watch so we can only imagine what it must have been like for her.

Friday night was my final night as a gymnast. After 18 years I am hanging up my grips and leaving the chalk behind. I couldn’t be prouder of the person that gymnastics has made me to become. It’s taught me hard work, humility, integrity, and dedication, just to name a few. It’s given me challenges and road blocks that I would have never imagined that has tested who I am as a person. It may not have ended the way I had planned, but nothing ever goes as planned. Thank you Auburn family for giving me a home and a chance to continue doing the sport that will always be my first love. I am honored to have had the privilege to represent the navy and orange AU for the past 4 years with my team by my side. Thank you for letting me share my passion with you. Thank you for letting me be a part of something bigger than myself. War Eagle Always ??

After the event, Cerio posted a tweet of herself from earlier times and made the announcement that the event would be her final gymnastics event.
