On the list of the all-time favorite family series would be ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ placed somewhere, as this series got everyone glued and anticipating the next season. ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ is basically a narrative by Comedian Chris Rock, of his life as a teenager during the ‘80s.
The name of the sitcom can be considered as a parody of CBS’ ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’ With the cast of Tyler James Williams, Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim, and Vincent Martella, this 4-season-long series was one that would not be easily forgotten. Well, in case you are wondering how those little ones look now, then here you can see below:
Tyler James Williams as Chris
The Star of the hit series, Chris is nowhere near nerdy as he was portrayed throughout the show.
The hot bod Tyler still remains an actor and has featured in movies such as Disney’s ‘Let it Shine,’ AMC’s ‘The Walking D-ead,’ ‘Cr-iminal Minds: Beyond Borders.’ The 26-year-old is also a rapper, martial artist and music video director, and it looks like he is not leaving the Hollywood scene anytime soon.
Vincent Martella as Greg
Known for his role as Chris’ only white friend and equally nerdy Greg, Vincent is still in the entertainment industry as an actor and most times as a voice actor and singer. After the sitcom, Vincent moved on to be the voice behind Phineas from the cartoon series’ ‘Phineas and Ferb’. He also seems to still be in touch with his onscreen best friend as he also featured in ‘Walking D-ead.’
Tichina Arnold as Rochelle
Talk about a black woman role well played, Tichina bodied this role and left us hollering when she was being the typical ‘mom’.
With the end of the show, she has featured in other movies such as ‘Dance Flick’ and was recently on ‘The Eric Andre Show’. She also has an NGO which she co-founded called the ‘We Win Foundation’ and it caters to the needs of those with Lupus.
Terry Crews as Julius
Terry Crews might have been in the news recently for coming out on the assaults that he had faced in the industry which is quite sad, but we won’t forget his role as the frugal dad that was always working 3-plus jobs.
After the show, Terry Crews has remained on our screens often times, whether in a movie such as ‘Are We There Yet,’ ‘White Chicks,’ ‘Friday After Next,’ among so many others; or on a reality/ TV show such as ‘The Family Crews,’ ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,’ ‘Ultimate Beastmaster, ’among others.
Imani Hakim as Tonya
Remember the very annoying little sister and last child of the Rock family, Tonya? Well, look at her all grown and chic now. Since the show, the 25-year-old actress has featured in a number of movies such as the 2014 movie ‘The Gabby Douglas Story’ as Gabby Douglas, the Olympic gold medalist, ‘Chocolate City,’ ‘Sharknado: The 4th Awakens,’ ‘Sollers Point,’ ‘Burning Sands’ among others. We hope she is less annoying now though.
Tequan Richmond As Drew
We were always ready for Tequan’s glow up as he was very unlike his brother Chris.
Known as the smooth operator and cool kid in the show, Tequan remains the girls’ favorite even off screen. He also remained in the entertainment scene as an actor and rapper, as he is associated with labels like ‘GOOD music, ‘Disturbing the Peace’ and ‘Cash Money Records’, and has featured in movies such as ABC’s ‘General Hospital, ‘Ringside’, ‘All Night’, among others.
BTS Of Everybody Hates Chris
The show which was produced by Standup Comedian and Actor, Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi, and aired between 2005 and 2008, was centered on Rock’s upbringing in Brooklyn in the 1980s, and has been nominated for and won a number of awards such as the ‘Golden Globe,’ ‘Emmy Awards,’ ‘NAACP Image Award’ among others.
The interesting element of the show was its ability to highlight the ills of society, especially the ones, bothering on race, in a comic way and the struggles of a young kid on the streets of Brooklyn.
In 2009, the show was canceled by ‘CW’ network after four seasons, while Chris also announced that the series had come to an end, as he dropped out of High School afterward to become a Comedian at the age of 17. Cast members were also satisfied with the way it ended as it had a fitting finale. But should there be a sequel regardless? We are sure fans would love that.
